We are excited to roll out a new caching layer to the Particle Cloud on September 1st! This improvement will reduce device handshake times significantly.
The deploy will temporarily impact Wi-Fi based devices (Core, Photon, and other Wi-Fi compounds). Cellular-based devices should not be impacted. During the deploy, you will see Wi-Fi devices disconnect temporarily from the cloud. Devices will then attempt to reconnect, and they may make a few attempts before a successful reconnection.
During this period, you should see some flashing on the status LED, which represents the handshake and connection process underway. This is all expected behavior during the maintenance window.
